Heat pumps are not a new water heating technology, they have been around for many years but in the South African market the uptake was small due to our low prices in electricity. Solar and heat pumps are both amazing works of technology, but with Heat Pumps there are a lot less limitations and in most cases the return on investment is a lot quicker.

Due to the massive demand in heat pump systems in the domestic and industrial markets, we have decided to offer heat pump training courses and provide you (the installers/distributors) with all the theoretical and practical know-how on these systems. We are pioneers of heat pump technology and this course is the first of its kind in South Africa.

Some of the topics to be discussed

Heat pump theory, heat pumps vs. solar, case studies with savings analysis, applications, system design, plumbing of the system, system commissioning, system diagnostics/faultfinding, servicing the heat pump, system specifications, controller and electrical installation, re-heating times, project sizing and much more. It will also include a practical session where we connect a domestic heat pump to a standard electrical geyser for some hands on experience.

Course details

The course is currently being offered in Stellenbosch, Cape Town at the Lovane wine estate and will be 1 full day. The next course will be held on the 24th November 2010. Cost: R1500 and includes the following

• Full day eats (Tea, 3 course lunch, snacks)
• Training manual on both the domestic and industrial systems, which you can use as references when doing an installation
